There is a group of girls in class whom my friend and I are not very close with, and out of nowhere they asked my friend if she wanted to wear the college T-Shirt tomorrow because they were going to, just for fun.
They also asked my friend to ask me. I told her I won't wear it because I find it silly, everyone wearing the same shirt to college. Then my aunt found out about this and said I refuse to be sociable! She called me stubborn and said that if I don't make an effort (such as wearing a certain shirt like everyone else) I'll never make friends with that group.
I do want to be friends with them, but I just don't want to do something silly like that. I might be making a wrong decision...I don't know. Do you really have to do something everyone else does to become friendly with them?
I know it's just a small trivial matter, but I'd like your opinion. :)

Submitted by Adren on January 17, 2010 - 8:07pm.In this case this would be your foot in the door to getting to know this certaing group of girls.. but you don't want to be friends with them for whatever reason.. this will only make them dislike you by the way.. they are aware that you were asked to participate and if you don't then they'll know you refused to.. it's a tradition of school spirit, like at a pep rally or football game.. but if you really don't care about all that stuff then don't do it.. just be yourself but be aware of your actions, that's all.. but don't be afraid to stand your ground either.. you don't have to conform to their standards but having friends is good and having friends of all kinds builds a network and in the future your network will help you out substantially.. anyway, I was never one to be like that but as I get older I wished I had.. good luck.
