How To Deal With Death

Everyone's first experience with death is unique but there is some universal advice that can ease the tragedy.

Nothing prepares us for the first time we face the realities of life when a person we know dies. It might be a family member or a classmate from school, either way; the realization of their passing can be emotionally confusing and draining. It may seem like a dream that you will wake up from, a never ending nightmare of sorts and a feeling of hopelessness might also set in but there are ways to cope with the situation.

Acceptance is the first step in dealing with death. Their death may have felt senseless and unfair but that is how life can be and what makes life so treasured. The healing cannot take place if the tragedy is not fully acknowledged.

Celebrate their life and cherish the memories you have of them. Remember the dark times will tarnish their life whereas recounting times of happiness honors them. Talking and sharing memories with others will also help and lessen the lost felt not just by you but also by others.

Dealing with death is not the same for everyone but with time and patience, the suffering will lessen.
