Before I begin, I just thought I'd say I am a newbie to Jamrie... so what better way to introduce myself than to write something pretty unique for all of you people out there on the interweb!

The topic of religion has recently been something that has crossed my mind, and I feel it's something that should be discussed, especially in such an open forum like this.

I don't know if there are many of you out there who are like me, but I consider myself to be an agnostic (someone who's just so uncertain, they hope that there's a God and believe it's possible but not enough evidence is clear to make a true determination whether there is one or not).

When I tell people this, most wouldn't even know how to begin spelling the word agnostic. I laugh, of course, and explain the meaning behind such a "ten-dollar word" ... and sometimes spell it out for them too.

If you're like me out there, world, you can agree that there's not many of us out there. At least not many who are pretty open about something as personal as this. It goes to say that at times it becomes intimidating being around others who might well be strong members of a religion.

It's not to say we're totally jealous of those around us by any means. It's that we wish we had a true understanding within us of the world. Agnostics are pretty different and unique people. We are inquisitive. We are curious. We are thinkers. We question everything, and take pleasure in answers. There's never a moment when we take things lightly about the world. And we really wish that there were more people like us who might take their view of the world and totally flip it upside down just to see what it looks like. We do that a lot too.

These things differentiate us so greatly from the rest of the world that we feel totally isolated and alone. I think the greatest advice one can take out of this article is to understand that you are not alone. We're definitely not all the same, but at the same token we're also not entirely alone or different.

If you are like me and are feeling isolated among the rest, my advice to you is to try something called faith again. No, not faith as in "Go become a Catholic NOW!" The faith I advise you to have is in yourself. Believe that there are more people that share these things with you, and don't let them get in the way of your friendships or relationships with others.

Faith has great powers over us meek souls. It wakes us in the morning, keeps us alive during our days, and lets us sleep peacefully at night. Yes, it's somewhat like caffeine... except for the sleeping peacefully part.

Faith builds countries, and cities, and peoples. It brings new life into the world. It leads us straight into the future. Without faith in ourselves, we are nothing.

With faith, however, we prosper and carry on.

If you need proof to believe without a shadow of a doubt that you are not alone, I can promise you that I am right here beside you and have fought and continue to fight the same struggle as you. You are not alone.
